INSTRUCTIONS
WEEK 1 | 07.01.2019 - 11.01.2019
We were given clear instructions about what exactly our final project going to be and how our progress should be throughout the 7 weeks. We were given examples and given guidelines to start our final project.
Our final project was an animated infographic video between 1.15 Mins to 3 Mins Max. The video should include comparing, showing casualty, graphics and visuals, words and numbers and multiple charts.
We were divided into our groups and we started brainstorming ideas. Initially our group started discussing and we started listing our options.
- Food
- Malaysia
- Animals
- Festivals
- University
- Fashion
- Music
- Hairstyles
- Rich & Poor
- Asian Vs Europeans
- Fruits
- Sports
- Winter Vs Summer
- Glass Vs Contact Lens
- Introvert Vs Extrovert
- Cats Vs Dogs
- 90's Vs 2000's
We then narrowed it down to Food and Introvert Vs Extrovert. We suggested the idea of Introvert Vs Extrovert and Mr.Shamsul said the idea was too common and asked us to come up with something new and exciting. We also discussed about comparing East and West Malaysia, however the lecturers suggested that it is too broad but if we can narrow it down and fit it into 3 mins it should be okay, however we were not sure of it so we looked further into food.
We came up with the idea of shedding the light on the difference of Vegans and Vegetarians.
WEEK 2 | 14.01.2019 - 18.01.2019
On week 2 we had gathered information on Vegans and Vegetarians, where they get their nutrients and how the two differs and why people choose that lifestyle. We looked into the 5Ws and 1H.
What: Vegans and Vegetarians
Who: Who are Vegans and Vegetarians
What: What do Vegans and Vegetarians eat
Where: Where do Vegans and Vegetarians get their Nutrients
Why: Why do people become Vegans or Vegetarians
How: How are the pros and Cons of being Vegan and Vegetarians different
After we presented our proposal, Mr.Jeff and Mr.Shamsul suggested creating a more different comparison, rather than Vegetarians Vs Vegans. After Discussing further with the group, we also realized that Vegans and Vegetarians are kind of similar rather than Meat eaters and Vegans. So we decided to compare Vegans to Meat Eaters. Our topic was then decided and started gathering information on the nutritional differences and started addressing the 5Ws and 1H

We then updated the information into the final project presentation.

We then moved onto deciding on the Color Palette and the art style we will be using. We created a board on pinterest of some of the references.

This week, we worked on the Script/Narration.
After discussing among the group, we decided that rather than just have assets popping up, we want to make it more interactive by adding two talking assets battling against each other. Our first option was Broccoli Vs Sausage. However we thought Broccoli Vs Bacon had a better ring to it. To make the video come to conclusion we thought it would be interesting to add a race for the finish line. Our Main idea was to make Broccoli appear innocent while the Bacon to appear cool and full of him self.

WEEK 4 | 28.01.2019 - 01.02.2019

Zoe's Illustration |
After looking at my style of illustration, Mr.Shamsul liked the rough lines and sketch idea. However, we were not sure if it would work on one screen with so many assets with so many black lines. So instead of black sketching, we decided to sketch with the same color of the asset.
WEEK 5 | 04.02.2019 - 08.02.2019
This week we had no class as it was Chinese New Year. I worked on my illustrations throughout the whole week, in order to start the animation process soon.
