INSTRUCTIONS

Week 1
05.04.2019 (Week 1)

We started our first exercise which was a basic video editing work. Mr.Martin gave us clips from senior batch to recreate a scene from the movie Jessica Jones.

We then started working on it on Adobe Premier Pro with basic tips from Mr.Martin.

Week 2
12.04.2019 (Week 2)

We continued working on the video we were working on the previous class. We were taught ripple edit too for trimming the video. Our task was to reduced the seconds of our video file to 55 seconds. Originally my edited video was 1 min 22 seconds long. Here is the trimmed video.

My Final Output

For the frame size and storyboard exercise, we were shown a video commercial of a brand of Soap with 4 versions of the commercial of the same brand soap. We were each randomly given one version of the commercial to do our exercise on. I was given the first version, Hard Selling. We have to take screenshots of all the shots and describe what kinda shot it is for our version of the commercial.

Shooting Practice
19.04.2019 (Week 3)

We started our class work with another exercise on video editing and crop tool for practice. We were given clips and to edit the clips into recreating the commercial we worked on last week.
Our task was to have our final video to be trimmed down to 45 seconds exactly.

Process of Trimming

My final Output

After completing the exercise, we headed to the studio to begin our shooting practice, where Mr.Martin showed us the essential settings for the camera we will be using for the shooting. We were tasked to create 3 seconds video for the each of the 9 types of shots. Each group was assigned a camera and a tripod for shooting and given 1 hour to complete the task.

Above are the 9 clips we shot. After we were done shooting, we were supposed to compile all the clips and add the type of shot on the video and export it into one clip. The compilation task was individual and below is my process and final output.

Editing Process
After compiling and trimming the clips, I wanted to correct the color of the video a bit as the video looked a bit dull, I played around with the color presets however, I did not want to make a huge change as Mr.Martin has not asked us to edit further.

Reflection of the exercise:
I found the exercise very interesting and I got to learn a lot about camera equipment and functions, and most importantly I was able to understand the different shots more clearly. It was very fun trying to shoot all the videos and I really enjoyed the process of taking videos to editing the videos as well. This exercise made me want to learn more and look forward to the new things we will be learning. I particularly excited to learn using more tools on Adobe Premier to edit the clips.
