WORK

Week 5

This week we presented sketches of our book sleeve, paper bag and additional merchandise item. We had the option of choosing a merchandise item. After evaluating the contents of my book, I decided to go ahead with a calendar, relating to my topic of the book, Ambition and making plans for the future.

After Consulting Mr.Shamsul i decided to keep the illustrations in the front for the calendar. Below are the processes for new calendar layout.

Due to the fact that printing on on tracing A1 was unavailable, I had to compromise and create another paper bag and below is the outcome.

The paper bag however had to be printed on art card and was too thick to be folded and therefor I had to redo my bag again and below is the process and outcome.

However with Mr.Shamsuls adviced to use the initial attempt as the other ones also did not go according to plan. So I printed on tracing paper and created my final bag. However I was unable to take a photo of the final outcome.

FEEDBACKS

Week 5:
Mr.Shamsul, gave me the go ahead with my book sleeve idea and the calendar option for the third merchandise. However, he asked to make the paper bag less complicated as my book sleeve would be already complicated. He suggested using the tracing paper idea for the material of the bag in order to make it different and less complicated at the same time.

Week 6:
The paper bag looks good and the book sleeve is good to go. Mr.Shamsul however gave some pointer for calendar. Since I realised I could not fit my calendar inside the book sleeve, due to the design I had, he suggested having a calendar holder.

Create a Focal PointThis article talks about the crucial key components of visual merchandise designing and how people neglect to see it as an important factor. The most important key points to keep in mind

Main points are:
Remember That Color Is King
Create a Focal Point
Tell a Story: What’s in it for customers? Tell them. Use powerful, sales-enabling signage to display the advantages of buying the product. Present three bullet points that tell customers why they need the product or how their life will become easier because of the product.
Expose Customers to the Maximum Amount of Merchandise
