EXPERIENCE

My experience in Typography has been to be honest beautifully exhausting. I was constantly getting frustrated but this class has taught me to always push through the frustrations and keep working hard and practice and practice till you get it right.  Rejection does not necessarily meant it was bad, but it was room for me to do better. I have had really good days and really bad days, but in the end I am satisfied with my improvement. It cant be perfect but I feel better knowing that I have worked hard and pushed my limits. The lecturers constantly help me do that. All the rejections were a lesson learned. I really appreciate how much Mr.Vinod and Mr. Shamsul has been pushing us from the beginning. Here at the end I see how much of an impact it has done to our works and how much improvement it has brought to our works. This whole class was a new experience for me, I learned the importance of not lagging behind and always keep on working. Most of all I learned the importance of not giving up. The extent to which the lecturers have pushed us with their high expectations have pushed our own limits. This class has certainly opened my eyes. The feedbacks from the lecturers are one of the best part of the class as it helps me improve my own designs. This module has been fascinating, intriguing, and hectic.

OBSERVATIONS

This class has helped me see the importance of Typography and how it plays a huge role in our everyday life. I have realized how much effort and hard work is being put into even a small little composition and have observed the neglecting of the hard work. The hard work of typographers are underrated. So much of work and energy are being put into it and therefor I have a new found respect for typographers. Also, all the research work has opened my eyes alot more to alot of different ideas and important information and makes me more interested in typography. I now find myself looking at billboards, signs and all sort of objects with texts with a critical point of view. I am constantly using what I learn in class in the real world. I have also observed that my expectations of myself has improved with the high expectations and constant reminders of comparing our works to professional works

FINDINGS

I found myself liking all the works and seeing the final results more towards the end of the semester. I started liking the process of growing and actually saw a lot of progress from where I started to where I am now. This class has gotten me excited for the next semesters as I learned so much. Also, I have realized that always documenting our works and keeping a blog of everything we do helps us grow and helps us learn from our mistakes better. And it is also nice to visually see the progress I've made. I have realized that all the work we have been pushed to do from the begging has taught us how to discipline ourself into a professional designer. The strict deadlines have prepared us to the real world. I feel like people are so used to seeing typography everywhere that great typography goes unnoticed. While most of the typography is careless, people tend to care less of the beauty of typography and its importance. I certainly have a new appreciation and respect for typography.
